meditate

Name

meditate - clear away or investigate various religious phenomena

Syntax

meditate [upon] [my] divine protection

(at a high altar)
meditate
meditate {over} <object>
meditate {upon} <ritual>
meditate [on] obsecration

Description

The meditate command has several uses, though for most of them you will need to be at a high altar.

The only syntax that can be used anywhere is

meditate [upon] [my] divine protection

which will remove all faith shields (though it will not affect the stat changes produced by the bless ritual). Anyone can use this version of the command, regardless of whether they worship a deity or not.

At a high altar of the deity you worship, you can:

meditate

This will remove all rituals and most faith commands from your mind. You can get them back by visiting a religious instructor.

meditate {over} <object>

This uses the faith.rituals.special skill, and costs 100 guild points. If you pass the skill check, it will tell you faith-related information about the object, such as whether it has been consecrated and/or warded.

meditate {upon} <ritual>

This has several faith-related skill checks, and costs a varying number of guild points. Depending on your success at the skill checks, you will receive a certain amount of information about the ritual. Note that a bad failure can remove the ritual from your mind, and you will need to visit a religious instructor to get it back.

meditate [on] obsecration

This uses the faith.items.scroll skill, and costs 100 guild points. It also adds 5 deity points to your deity's pool. If you succeed the skill check, you will receive information about the deity pool, your recent interactions with it (if any) and any rituals that your High Priest(ess) has declared profane.
