Instant Regret

by David Bennett

She stood tall
Short brown hair
Leaving the ears cold

This could not happening.
How can she be real?
I could not resist
I had to bite.

I set myself up
Bursting in with declarations
My fear creating my fate

Friendships cracked
Fast movement explodes
Love is disolved in water

Instant regret acheived
No need for more water
Instant regret is forever
Enduring like the sound of silence

PS This is an old poem, I only just found it again. © David Bennett, 1999.
