Careful in the eyes of god

He gingerly took another step. He looked over his shoulder carefully watching for any sign of movement. The sky was dark and wet, hanging over him like a blanket. Suddenly elated, he had got away. A huge hand on a spring suddenly smashed into his head. Yet another crime solved.

The Chief's secret agenda

The Chief sat as his desk staring mournfully at the huge stack of complaints.
Gadget, he thought with a sigh. Slowly he reached for the phone.
'Get me Doctor Claw'. The phone rang. They make a deal to eliminate Gadget. Again.

The freak show

A small frog hops onto the stage. 'Go! Go! Gadget flipper'. A large flipper shoots off his foot and disappears into the audience. Smiling happily he exits stage left. A new frog with a computer book hops onto the stage, beckoning to her pet caterpillar. Her pet grins as she explodes.

Plot synopsis.

Cat meows. Fist smashes. Incoherent shouting, only recognizable word. Gadget.
Dog follows Gadget. Gadget chases dog. Go! Go! Gadget failure! Penny uses computer book. Computer book saves the day.
Boss shakes his head sadly. Wishes for a coffin.
'I'll get you next time gadget' fades into the sonic boom.

Brand new day

The night gathered itself up and unstitched its hold on the sky. It folded back revealing the swamp in the throws of waking up. Little green frogs darted in and out of the water, splashing each other in glee. The start of a brand new day.

Arrival

The foot webbed and green, put itself down on the lilly pad. The leg attached to foot arrived soon after. Attached to the leg was the body, also green. It arrived with the leg and another three legs (plus feet). Reversing the process. They left.

The flood

The water rose, creeping slowly up the wall. The plants vanished, the animals moved house. The frogs croaked in excitement catching the stay insects buzzing past. The water trickled across the floor, slippery, pervasive. The frogs moved in. They all laughed about how they tricked the rain god.

Population control

The alien landed on the planet. Taking out its electronic note pad it watched everything with close attention. Knowing that all intelligent life has to be green, it started to take samples of the green hopping life of the planet. Failing time after time, the population slowly diminished.

Moving house

The world gave a sudden lurch. Outside things rushed past in an almost hypnotizing pattern, subtly distorted by the glass. The world went from the washed white of normality tto the penetrating blue of the new. The world slid sideways, falling into the water, he scrambled.
A new home.

The happy fly

The fly bussed brightly through the air. Diving and wheeling through the air, it happily zipped about. Spying a dead lizard it sets its tail and dive bombs it. Snap. Its trajectory is drastically altered by the sticky persuasiveness of a frog's tongue. The frog was pleased to meet it. © David Bennett, 1998.
