Chatty Chatty Change Change, posted on Sun Apr 26 07:20:58 2026

Hello!

As a result of collaboration with the Guild of Mysterious Things With Eyes Inside Magical Communication Objects, there have been some changes to the talker.

Thing one: The old "talker {brief|verbose}" syntax has been given an optional extra argument which allows you to set the brief/verbose state of chats, or of the "history" or "list" commands. The brief mode for "list" is the same as the old "list brief <channel>" command. The brief mode for "history" leaves off the timestamps for every chat and tells you the start and end times of the history instead (this is intended to be less annoying for screenreader users). Furthermore...

Thing two: The "history" and "list" commands will now accept an optional final argument if you want a one-time override of the brief/verbose state of the command. So the "list brief <channel>" syntax is gone, replaced with "list <channel> brief".

Thing three: There is a new "timestamps {relative|absolute}" command which lets you choose whether the timestamps shown in the output of the history command will be relative to the current time (so you can see how long ago a chat was made) or whether they will be the wall clock time the chat was made (as they have been until now).

Chat away!

You Don't Have To Be A Fool To Be A Fool., posted on Wed Apr 1 06:48:08 2026

On this special day the creators have granted to the Guild of Fools and Joculators these wishes three:

1. Slap applicators will now be a bit more sparing in the applications and thus last somewhat longer.

2. An asbestos mask has been added to the T-Shop to protect Fools from the rigours of firebreathing.

3. Clownageddon now has a baby brother (or sister if you prefer to think in such terms) called Filly Folly.

Finally, to prevent the Fools being accused of being OP, a flaming red nose has been added that will grant non-fools the ability to firebreathe. Beware though, as any Fool can attest, firebreathing is not for the faint of heart and a lump of melted rubber on your nose is going to smart.

EDIT: Thank you all for your participation in April Fools Day. The Flaming nose was a complete fabrication and the asbestos mask does not do anything special. The mask will remain available for a couple of days for those who like to collect such things and will then be removed from the t-Shop stock.
