People in the United States are eating 900% more Broccoli now than they did 20 years ago. In 1970 the average consumption of Broccoli was half a pound, in a recent survey (1997) the average consumption was found to be four and half pounds.
Broccoli has been around for 2000 years, it was a favourite food of the romans and introduced into France in the 1500s and into England in 1720.
90% of the Broccoli grown in the United States in 1998 comes from California.
